Veronica Zhang, Violin 1

Veronica Zhang, a senior currently attending Paramus High School, has been studying the violin for ten years. She has studied privately for her first two years with Mr. Niel Gu, studied at Julliard with Ms. Louise Behrend for a few months in the fourth grade, and worked publicly with her school orchestra directors for the remainder of the years. She is currently with Mrs. Judy Wilkes, Orchestra Director at PHS. Veronica has played with the Montclair State University Orchestra a year at age 8, and has won the JCC Thurnauer Masterclass Competition at age ten. When she became of age to participate in Regions and All-State Orchestras, Veronica has been a consistent member of both since grade seven, and was placed Regions concertmistress in 2004. She was soloist in the Paramus Community Orchestra on Mozart's Violin Concerto in A Major in summer of 2003, soloist in the PHS Orchestra on Theme from Schindler's List in 2003, soloist on Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in the summer of 2005, and is currently an active participant in the PHS orchestra, concertmistress of both the Chamber Strings and the Pit Orchestra, Vice-President of the PHS orchestra, and Secretary of the TRI-M National Music Honor Society. She has been teaching private lessons for two years.

 

Boyoung Park, Violin 2

Boyoung Park, a junior currently attending Paramus High School, has been studying the violin for ten years. Before moving to the U.S. from Korea, she studied privately for five years with Ms. Nan Suk Oh. Overseas, she competed in a music competition held at Masan University and placed second. During her middle school and elementary school years, she won several awards for distinguished performance in music. In the U.S., she made the North Jersey Regional Orchestra in her freshman year. Boyoung also played with the Paramus Community Orchestra last summer, and has plans on doing so the upcoming years. Throughout the years, she has played numerous times at her church, local hospitals, weddings, and parties, and has volunteered her time to enrich the community with her music. Boyoung has plans to pursue music in the future, majoring in violin to become a violin teacher. She is currently involved in the Paramus High School Orchestra, assistant concertmistress of the Chamber Strings and the Pit Orchestra.
